Ten Ard Scoil na nDéise athletes made the journey to Templemore on Saturday, May 21st for the Munster Schools Track and Field Championships. There was a huge programme of events on the day with the first event kicking off at 9:30am and the last event taking place at 5:30pm.
Ava Flavin competed in the Junior 100m race finishing in 6th place overall, Katelyn Gardner also finished in 6th place in the Intermediate Shot put event and Aoibh Murphy finished in 5th place in the Senior 800m race. All three girls gave outstanding performances in their events.
Ard Scoil na nDéise came home with a great haul of medals across a variety of events and now have qualified to compete in the All Irelands in Tullamore on June 4th.
Averil Buckley gave one of her best performances to date by winning the Intermediate Hammer and coming 3rd in the Discus Competition.
Sarah Slevin also won two individual medals, finishing in 3rd place in the Senior Shot and 3rd
place in the discus.
Ailbhe Morley was competing in her first Munster schools competition finishing a magnificent 3rd place in the Junior Triple Jump.
The Senior relay team put in an exceptional performance and finished in 2nd place, led home by Sarah Slevin, Aoibh Murphy, Averil Buckley, Kate Donnelly and Roisin Kiersey.
To top off the day the Junior Relay team came home with Gold medals and ran the race in an exceptional 52 seconds. The team was led home by Ailbhe Morley, Catherine O Donnell, Laoise Cummins and Ava Flavin.
