Great Success for Art Students in Ard Scoil na nDéise

Well done to the winners in the Credit Union and Texaco Art Competitions!!
Great Success for Art Students in Ard Scoil na nDéise

We are absolutely thrilled with the huge success that a number of our art students have had in art competitions in recent weeks. We had no less than seven winners in the Credit Union Art Competition, a very prestigious art competition that has been running for 37 years. This year’s theme was ‘Imagine More’, encouraging entrants to think past the current situation and imagine. Imagine More is influenced by the creative role art plays in Irish society and encourages participants to unlock their imagination and look at how art inspires us and our communities. Despite the current challenges, art has kept people from all walks of life connected and this year’s theme encourages participants to express this connectivity on paper or canvas. Our winning students are as follows:

Age 11 to 13 years:

3rd - Sarah Barron

1st - Kasia Swiderczuk

Age 14 to 17 years

3rd - Ava Grace

2nd - Jacqui Barron Carton

1st - Mary Bradfield

Age 18 & Over

3rd - Jennifer Power

2nd – Mary-Lou Mahony

We are also thrilled to say that Fifth Year student Mary Bradfield has won a Special Merit Award in Category A of the 66th Texaco Children’s Art Competition with an entry entitled ‘Faced With Plastic’. With over 25,000 entries this year, Mary’s achievement is particularly notable and we are extremely proud of her!

Well done too to our art teacher Ms. Sinead Hehir for her support and encouragement of the girls as they prepared their entries.
