Our Super Transition Year Cycling Trip!

Thank you to Moya Tiennery for providing this account of a recent TY cycling trip
Our Super Transition Year Cycling Trip!

On the 14th of October Ard Scoil Na nDéise’s Transition Year class had the time of our life cycling the Greenway. At 9 o’clock in the morning we set off on our bikes and pedalled down the scenic route to Kilmacthomas. The stunning views of Waterford’s beautiful coastline and countryside helped distract us from the pain in our legs. We took several breaks to have a drink to keep hydrated and by 12 o’clock we reached Kilmacthomas and had an entire hour to spend in the town. We explored the town's shops and bought sweets (to help bring our sugar levels back up!!!).

After tucking into our lunches, we began our long journey back up to school. The return was much easier to cycle as it was mostly downhill, but our legs still felt like jelly when we dismounted our bikes when we arrived back at Abbeyside).Though our trip was not entirely uneventful, (people did fall and bicycle chains did break!) we had a brilliant day out.

We would really recommend cycling the Greenway to anyone planning a fun adventure.
