Ard Scoil na nDéise was established in 1990 as a result of an amalgamation of Coláiste Mhuire, run by the Sisters of Mercy and St. Joseph’s Secondary School, run by the Presentation Sisters. Our school culture and ethos is based on the founding intentions of the Mercy and Presentation Orders. We believe in the importance of providing high quality education for all members of the community.
Our Mission Statement is ‘Reaching our Potential with Respect, Care, and Friendship’ and we strive to be true to this Mission Statement in everything that we do. Our philosophy of teaching is based on the premise that through cooperation and commitment on the part of all members of our school community, our students will thrive in a safe and progressive environment committed to inclusion and innovation in teaching and learning.
Interactions between members of our school community are based on Gospel values and we believe in the importance of showing our commitment to these values in our daily lives. Ard Scoil na nDéise is part of the CEIST (Catholic Education, An Irish Schools Trust) Trust and as such we are committed to the following CEIST core values:
- Promoting spiritual and human development
- Achieving quality in teaching and learning
- Showing respect for every person
- Creating community
- Being just and responsible
We believe our commitment to these core values, along with a commitment to upholding the traditions of the Mercy and Presentation Orders helps us to take a holistic approach to the academic, spiritual, and personal development of all of our students, thereby helping them to become the best people that they can be.
